Meet Your Kins!
Skip the Gym was founded by Julia Mayzel and Kaylee De Benedetto, two kinesiologists with a shared passion for injury rehabilitation, functional movement, and personal training. While completing our Bachelor of Kinesiology degrees at the University of Alberta, we gained extensive experience in physiotherapy clinics, fitness facilities, athletic training rooms, and youth sports. These opportunities strengthened our interest in helping individuals move better, recover safely, and build life-long strength.
During our work in sport and rehabilitation settings, we noticed a growing need for mobile kinesiology services in Edmonton, St. Albert, and Sherwood Park. Many clients needed professional support, but had difficulty attending traditional gym or clinic appointments.
To bridge this gap, we launched Skip the Gym – Mobile Kinesiology Services in 2018 with a clear mission:
to provide accessible, evidence-based healthcare, injury rehabilitation, and at-home exercise programs directly in our clients’ homes.
Today, we specialize in:
- In-home injury rehabilitation, chronic pain management
- Personal fitness programs customized to each individual’s needs and goals
- Strength and mobility training for adults and seniors
- In-home athletic training for youth and recreational athletes

At Skip the Gym, personalized care isn’t a feature – it’s the foundation of everything we do. That’s why every client begins with a comprehensive 60-minute assessment that goes far beyond the basics.
During this first session, we take a deep dive into your health history, injury background, movement patterns, mobility, imbalances, and current strength and stability levels. This thorough evaluation allows us to pinpoint exactly where you are today—so we can design a program that gets you where you want to go, safely and efficiently.
From there, you receive targeted strength training and corrective exercise programming tailored exclusively to your needs. There’s no guesswork and no generic workouts—every minute of your session is purposeful, strategic, and designed to help you move better, feel stronger, and regain confidence in your body.
What’s the difference between kinesiology and physiotherapy sessions?
We don’t just focus on treating the single area that hurts—we look at the whole body and how everything connects. As comprehensive-care specialists, we maximize the value of every appointment by addressing multiple needs within the same session. You get the best results in the least amount of time, because we ‘attack from all angles’ to give you the most efficient and valuable experience possible.
